Abaddon the Destroyer by K4nK4n Abaddon the Destroyer by K4nK4n
February-21-2008 {past midnight, early morning}
I had a dream where I was at the bottom of a very deep pit. There was light coming from the top opening of the pit but it couldn't reach the bottom. The pit was too deep. And I was right at the bottom, without any knowledge of how I got there or why I was there in the first place. I thought I was all alone until a man emerged from the shadows. It was so dark that I couldn't see what he looked like and could hardly make out his clothing. He seems to be wearing aristocratic English clothes, complete with a top hat and a walking stick. And they were all black in color, making it more difficult to see what he looks like. I was nearly frightened out of my skin when he appeared out of nowhere. It was all too strange to comprehend, but what the man said to me was most shocking. He said that he was the "Angel of the Bottomless Pit" - and that he was looking for a successor! He had wanted to create a carbon copy of himself by finding a person with the potential to be his apprentice. And he believes that THAT person is ME. I was petrified! I refused, but he pressed on. After some quarreling which later turned into negotiating he gave the final offer, "A Partnership." He understands that it can't be forced so he promised to assist me by showing the way and give me a chance to reflect before changing my opinion. After that, my memory became blurred and I can't remember what we talked about anymore. In the end, I raised my hand to shake his, saying my name and asking him for his. He took my hand and said his name in a mysterious, unrecognizable language. But I somehow understood the meaning of his name - it meant "Destroyer". We both shook hands, then I woke up. What have I done?

From the Hebrew root meaning 'to destroy,' Abaddon was known as a 'place of destruction' synonymous with Sheol in Prov 15:11; 27:20 and Job 26:6. It is the second of the seven names of the underworld in the Babylonian Talmud.

[In Job 28:22, Abaddon is personified as a being that can speak and hear.
Abaddon and Death say,
'With our ears we have heard a report of it.']

In Revelation, Abaddon is the King of the abyss who commands an army of locusts. He will rise up after the fifth angel has blown his trumphet.
[They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon. - Rev 9:11]

The reference to the abyss in this case is the temporary place of punishment for the fallen angels in contrast to the lake of fire, which will be permanent.

Most authors thought of Abaddon as a place rather than an entity. For instance, in The Biblical Antiquities of Philo
[When the years of the world (or age) are fulfilled, God will quicken the dead, and raise up from the earth them that sleep: Sheol will restore its debt, and Abaddon its deposit, and every man will be rewarded according to his works. - III. 10.]

In Mather's Key of Solomon, Abaddon is the name of God that Moses invokes to bring destructive rains.
[and by the Name ABADDON which Moses invoked and sprinkled the dust towards heaven, and immediately there fell so great rain upon the men, cattle, and flocks, that they all died.]

Thank you, but Abaddon appeared twice more in my dreams after that. In one dream, he practically saved me from a death trap.

Actually, in the dream where he saved me, I was walking in elbow-high water seemingly lost when I saw an island. Upon coming closer, I saw a few cute girls sitting next to a fountain, with food and fruit tress all around them. Of course, I needed to get out of the water, so I headed towards them. Before I could, however, someone grabbed my shoulder and told me to stop. Turning my head around I realized it was Abaddon. "It is a trap," he said to me. Looking back, I realised that the girls were nothing more than skeletons, the fountain oozed black liquid, the food covered in flies and the fruits were all rotten. God knows what would've happened if Abaddon hadn't stopped me.
